Raging Waves Fitness Program Logs are due Monday, May 4th – Send completed logs to Domenica Jiménez at leandom@iit.edu

Each student completing the program requirements between February 10th – April 6th will receive a FREE full day admission pass to Raging Waves (valid between May 30 – June 30) OR a $10 off certificate (valid between July 1 – September 7). Raging Waves is located in Yorkville.

STUDENTS: Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes each day from February 10th – April 6th. Log your time and have a parent/guardian sign the log.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Print the log listed below and help track your child’s fitness, then sign the form and email it to the School Coordinator, Domenica Jiménez, at leandom@iit.edu.

Homemade Teacher Appreciation Cards – Due this SATURDAY!

It’s Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week – During this unprecidented time of shelter-in-place, our teachers have had to think outside of their usual curriculum to create new lesson plans to foster our students’ education.

Let’s show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate them with homemade Thank You cards! Cards will be distributed to all Hauser teachers and staff when they clean out their school rooms. As a reminder, here are the requirements:

CARD GUIDELINES

  1. Cards/notes should be no bigger than 8 1/2 x 11
  2. Make as many cards as you like! (We’ll be giving them to teachers, staff, para professionals, custodians, lunch staff.)
  3. Please do not address cards to any specific teacher or staff member (cards will be put in random goodie bags to keep this process streamlined).

DEADLINESaturday, May 9th
Please drop off completed cards/notes in the mailbox of Julie Laube at 505 York Rd., Riverside OR Linda Sanduski at 38 Northgate Rd., Riverside.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Schedule

  • May 4th – 8th Online posts thanking teachers and staff. Decorate front door of Hauser (if possible).
  • May (date TBD) Take-home goodie bags with treats and student-made cards/notes for teachers and staff.
  • Once school resumes in the Fall – Teacher and staff appreciation breakfast or lunch

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions and school closure, our last PTO meeting of the year scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, will be an e-meeting.

Also, because we will not be able to conduct an in-person vote on our final philanthropy grants of the year, the Philanthropy Committee’s recommendations are below. If you have any questions, concerns or comments about the below recommendations, please contact Lisa Hennelly at lisahennelly@ymail.com BEFORE Tuesday, May 12th. If there are no objections prior to May 12th at 7:00pm, we will assume that the recommendations have been approved.

Philanthropy Committee Recommendations

  1. The Philanthropy Committee recommends granting the full request of Ms. Faletti for two whiteboard tables to be used in her classroom. The general membership voted to approve this grant not to exceed $340 at the February PTO meeting but by the time the grant was approved, the tables increased in cost. We were unable to ask for an amendment at the March meeting due to the school closure. The tables are now $360 each and the committee’s recommendation is to approve the purchase of the two tables requested and increase the amount of the grant from $340 to $720.
  2. The Philanthropy Committee recommends granting the full request of Ms. Janik for two additional alternative seating chairs. The general membership voted to approve this grant for two of the four chairs requested at the October PTO meeting but limited the amount to $260 for two chairs in case of additional requests by other staff during the year. The grant of the remaining two chairs was postponed until the end of the school year and contingent upon funds remaining in the philanthropy fund. Now at the end of the school year, the Committee has received no additional grants and recommends filling Ms. Janik’s request in full so she can purchase the other two chairs in the amount of $150.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is coming and we need your help! Working to learn new technology and changing lesson plans all on short notice, it’s apparent now more than ever how much we appreciate our teachers and staff during the COVID-19 quarantine.

To show our appreciation this year we’re asking students (and parents) to make Thank You Cards and/or Appreciation Notes for our Hauser teachers and staff.
