Thank you to the many volunteers who helped at this year’s Book Fair: you made the event a success with your efforts! And thank you to the parents and kids who found great books to read and buy–so many, in fact, that Hauser had its most successful book fair in recent memory.

With the profits, we were able to immediately add $1,600 worth of books to the school library and classroom libraries. There is still money to be spent on even more books–we’ll see what the library needs come Fall. With sales after tax equaling around $3,200, we got a lot of books into kids’ hands! That is wonderful news.

This year’s fair had a large selection of new and interesting books, including a lot of paperbacks at reasonable prices. If you missed out, we hope you are able to visit the book fair next year.

Hauser’s annual Book Fair and Family Dinner are next week, and we need your help! If you are able to give an hour or two of your time to make these events a success, please sign up online:

Don’t forget to purchase tickets for the dinner: $6 in advance, or $7 at the door. Kids five and under are free. District 96 5th graders are free with a paying adult. We strongly encourage advance online purchase of tickets. If you are not comfortable paying online, you can also print out a form and write a check, which you can deliver to the PTO box in the Hauser office. Advance tickets will be sold through February 22.

Hauser’s annual book fair will take place in the Auditorium from Monday, February 21 through Friday, February 24.

For the Book Fair to be successful, we need Volunteers! The Book Fair not only lets kids pick out books they want to read and own, but the money raised goes to restocking the school library and every classroom library.

We need volunteers to set up on February 21; all day on Wednesday, February 22; before school and during the Family Dinner on Thursday, February 23; and to pack it all up on Friday, February 24.

Many, and unending, thanks to the 30-plus volunteers who gave their time and hard work at this year’s book fair. Their efforts allowed the PTO to sell enough books, posters, and pencils/erasers to fulfill every item on the librarians’ and teachers’ wish lists. Thanks to your purchases, there are 112 new books in the library and the classroom libraries for our students to read, as well as money left for the librarians to further update their collection.

The book fair sold $2,695.75 (excluding sales tax) of products for a Scholastic Dollars profit of $1,649 (used to fulfill wish lists and money to purchase additional items for the library).

The Hauser Book Fair runs before school on Wednesday through Friday this week; after school on Wednesday and Thursday; and throughout the Family Dinner on Thursday, February 10 (from 5:00 to 7:30 pm).

Your child will be going through the fair with his/her Language Arts teacher on Wednesday, February 9. Books will be available to purchase at that time.

Money raised from the book fair goes directly back to Hauser, in the form of books for the library and books for the classrooms. We hope that you will support this effort to encourage reading at Hauser.

The Hauser Book Fair needs parent volunteers on Wednesday, February 9. All reading classes come through the book fair to browse and buy. We need people for one-hour shifts any time between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Volunteers are also needed during the Family Dinner on February 10, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
