50th Hauser Food Drive Kicks Off!

The annual Hauser Food Drive kicked off yesterday at school with grade level assemblies. Mr. Berwanger (Mr. “B”) – the teacher that started the drive in 1970 – spoke to all the students about the drive’s history and meaning. Below is all the important information about the this year’s drive.

50th Food Drive Schedule: Wednesday, February 26th – Saturday, April 4th

Wednesday, 2/26 Special Visit: WGN-TVs Around Town Segment

  • Hauser’s Food Drive will be featured during AM news segment with Anna Belaval.
  • It’s Blue and Gold day! Wear something Blue and Gold to school.
  • Bring a brown bag full of food to school. Students will receive brown bags today (2/20) in Cougar Connections.
  • Mrs. Mahy and Mrs. Mullin will be on the school’s roof as long as monetary and food donations keep coming in.

WEEK of 3/3Penny Wars

  • Class competition to see which class can raise the most money
  • Green and Pennies add to total; Silver subtracts from total
  • Grade bragging rights at stake

WEEKS of 3/9 (additional weeks to be determined) –  Raffle Weeks and Can/Monetary Donation Collections at School

  • Cans/non-perishable food and monetary donations will be collected at school on Tuesday and Friday morning before school.
  • Any student that brings in 10 cans or a $5.00 donation will be entered into the raffle.
  • Raffle prize will be a lunch for winning student and their lunch table; lunch will be served in a special dining room.
  • Lunches are being donated from Chic-fil-A and Bill’s Place.
  • There will be a grade vs. grade competition; winner will have a Fun Friday.

POSTPONED (Date to be determined) – Feed Our Community Day

  • Marconi and Cheese meals will be packed in the Hauser cafeteria from 9:00am – 5:00pm

For the next five weeks, the Hauser students are driving towards a goal of collecting 15,000 cans and 50,000 meals to celebrate 50 years of helping in the fight against hunger. Let’s help them reach the goal. Working together, we can do it!  Look for weekly updates in the Hauser Happenings and on the PTO Feed.
